Transylvania Art Guild
2026 Summer Showcase

The Arts Council is pleased to sponsor the Transylvania Art Guild (TAG) Summer Showcase at the Arts Council Gallery beginning Friday, May 22. The Showcase will be on display in the Gallery through Saturday, June 13.
This year’s participating artists include Helen Barker, Peg Bayne, Jill Beach, Beryl Bradley, Mary Alice Braukman, Ceylon Canning, J. C. Chapman, Ruth Chapman, Bill Clinton, Jill Cutler, Pat Dunham, Susan Grastrock, Linda Griffin, Libby Hawk, Diane Hodson, Toni Hutcheson, Cora Niver, Patrice Pfeiffer, Beth Ricciardi, Denise Sawyer, Nancy Wahl, Barbara Williams, Heidi Witmer, and Cindy Zimmerman.
The judge for this year’s Showcase is Lucy Clark, local artist and owner of The Lucy Clark Gallery & Studio. In addition to the judge’s awards, the public also selects a “People’s Choice” award, which was awarded to Jill Cutler at this year’s opening reception.

CALL TO ARTISTS
Art, Architecture & Design
June 26 - July 25
The Arts Council has issued a call to artists for its upcoming exhibit, Art, Architecture & Design, an open exhibition of fine art and craft. The exhibit will open on Friday, June 26, and will run through Saturday, July 25.
As an open exhibit, artists of all ages and experience levels are invited to create and submit artwork in any visual medium (other than film/video) that fits the theme of Art, Architecture & Design.
“The elements and principles of design are the foundation for all forms of art and architecture. Artists may create and submit both works of art that shape our environment (e.g., buildings, interiors, fashion, etc.), and works of art that are nonfunctional and design-driven. The Arts Council recognizes that there are many ways to interpret this theme, and looks forward to the possibilities.”
All artwork submitted for the exhibit must be original and fit the theme. The registration fee is $10 for each piece of artwork submitted (maximum of 3). The registration fee is waived for Arts Council members at the $100 level or higher. All artwork, registration forms, and fees must be delivered to the Arts Council Gallery on Monday, June 22, from 2:00-5:00pm.

January 16 – February 21: Mardi Gras in the Mountains: Laissez les Bon Temps Rouler!
Description: Open Exhibition. Artwork must fit the theme in the exhibit’s title.
February 27 – March 28: Community
Description: Annual multicultural Open Exhibition. Artwork must fit theme.
April 10 – May 2: Through the Lens
Description: Invitational Exhibition, featuring the Land of Waterfalls Camera Club.
May 7 – 16: Transylvania County Schools Student Art Show
Description: This exhibit features the artwork of students in grades K-12 in the Transylvania County Schools.
May 22 – June 13: Transylvania Art Guild Summer Showcase
Description: An invitational exhibit featuring Transylvania Art Guild artists.
June 26 – July 25: Art, Architecture, & Design
Description: Open Exhibition. Artwork must fit the theme.
August 7 – September 19: Fourth Annual Juried Exhibition
Description: Juried exhibition. Artists must be at least 18 years of age to apply.
October 2 – 31: Invitational
Description: Invitational Exhibition
November 13 - December 19: Small but Mighty
Description: Open Exhibition with holiday theme
