Number 7 Arts

Such a light filled, airy space in downtown Brevard, NC! I am quite honored to become a new member of this cooperative gallery. The displays are not jammed together, everyone's work is highlighted in vignettes. This gallery glows with the talent from its members. A must see location!

Program Information
Impressionist Claude Monet said: “To see we must forget the name of the thing we are looking at.” Artist Diane Pike feels that painting is about organizing what we see. She will present a program during the morning APS meeting which will help participants to simply see the world in its pure form, just one shape of color next to another. Ms. Pike will discuss how she sees color and shape as she determines and sketches her composition. She will lay in the first shapes and demonstrate how she begins a painting.

About the Artist
Diane Pike paints full time and teaches painting classes at Ciel Gallery in Charlotte. She also teaches several workshops a year in locations such as Texas, New Mexico, North Carolina, Alaska and Ireland. She is a member of the Piedmont Pastel Society of North Carolina, and a Signature Member of the Pastel Society of Colorado and Plein Aire Artists of Colorado. She has a BA in Fine Arts from the University of Northern Colorado and was a graphic designer for 10 years in Denver. She moved to North Carolina in 2008. Her recent focus has created a marriage between two key area in her paintings – her passion for color and her love of graphic design.
